What IS "Musicathon?" If you are new to the Davison Music Program, or just plain curious, click here to find out about this unique Davison tradition, currently in it's 26th year.

Parents and friends: Please be aware that the doors to the auditorium will be opened ONLY BETWEEN performances. You will not be able to enter during a performance. Once a performance has begun it is very distracting to the students as well as the audience for the doors to open. We wish for all who attend to have the fullest opportunity to enjoy the performances. Please come a few minutes early to ensure you are seated for the performance(s) you wish to experience.

Your Webmaster has come at 1:00 and left at 8:00p, enjoying every group's performance, many years and highly recommends the opportunity to hear the progression within the program and the successes of each group. It is a truly enjoyable day.

IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR ALL:

Please do not open and close the auditorium doors while a group is on stage.
Noise and light from the hallway is very distracting to the performers as well as others in the audience.
Doors will open between each performing group and shut when the next group is ready to start.
Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices should be silenced in the auditorium.
No Food or Drink is allowed in the auditorium (with the new seats, they are enforcing this rule!)
Concessions will be available for consumption in the hallway between performances.

WHAT IS MUSICATHON? For 30 years, the Davison Community has enjoyed this unique Davison tradition. Musicathon is the first concert in which a Davison 5th grade music student will perform. (Musicathon performance is a mandatory portion of all band and orchestra classes, so be sure to leave this date open!). It is an all day event, but the student is usually only required to be present for the portion in which he/she performs. It is HIGHLY recommended that students stay and see as many of the other groups perform as possible. Younger students gain exposure to what they are capable of, and inspiration to keep practicing. Older students gain an appreciation of what the many years of hard work have done for them, and a chance to see what their peers performing in other groups have been working on.

The Basic Plan: We begin with the 5th grade orchestra performing a few pieces. Next the 6th grade orchestra performs, followed by the Middle School Orchestra, then the High School Orchestra. Next, the 5th grade band will perform. After that the 6th grade band, and so on until all ensembles in the Davison School District have performed. You can come and go as you choose, as long as you enter and exit between performances. (In respect for all the hard work the students have put in, the doors of the auditorium will NOT be opened once a group has begun playing, so be on time for the groups you wish to see!) For estimated times for performances, see the schedule above. (These are estimated times. The last two years we have run right on schedule, but be prepared for slight changes as the day progresses.) There is no charge for entry, but a free will donation bucket is available.
